OFA Student Advocacy Scholarship

Local architecture students involved in the 2+2+2 program at Valencia, UCF and UF CityLab are now eligible for an exciting opportunity to join local architects for AIA Florida’s Legislative Day in Tallahassee at little to no cost out-of-pocket!

Scholarship Benefits

Mix, mingle and get mentored by local architects while traveling to Tallahassee on a luxury tour coach. Free lunch will be provided on the bus.

Interact with students from other architecture schools from around Florida at the AIA Florida student reception. Free light hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

Learn about the key legislative issues impacting the profession and practice at the AIA Florida Issues briefing. Free breakfast will be available at your hotel and at the briefing.

You will be part of a team of local architects who will meet with State Representatives and Senators in brief, impactful meetings to engage the lawmakers in understanding and supporting the positions of the architecture profession. Free lunch and snacks will be available throughout the day at AIA Florida headquarters.

After the meetings with legislators, there will be a reception for participants at AIA Florida HQ to unwind. Free hors d’oeuvres, beverages and an open bar will be provided.

Mix, mingle and get mentored by local architects while traveling back to Orlando on a luxury tour coach. Free snacks and beverages will be provided on the bus.

AXP and community service credits may be provided to students who participate.

Scholarship Requirements

Complete Step 1 (Register for free with AIA Orlando) and Step 2 (register for free with AIA Florida)

When completing Step 1, you will provide your Student ID number and indicate which school you attend. After we have verified your information and your completion of Step 2, a $100 E-Gift Card will be emailed to you to support your hotel reservation.

It is recommended that you pair up with another student and use your $100 each to completely cover the cost of your one-night hotel stay, with a little left over for incidentals.

Complete Step 3 by registering for your hotel stay. Holiday Inn Express (University Center) is $159 per night for two adults.

Completion Requirement

You must complete Steps 1 through 3 and then participate in Legislative Day and one other major event this year with AIA Orlando, preferably the Advocacy Bowling Tournament. At this event you will provide a very brief testimony as to how this experience has benefited you.

If you are unable to complete the Advocacy experience after receiving the $100 Scholarship, you must contact us immediately and reimburse OFA within ten (10) days. Failure to do so will result in your disqualification from other OFA Scholarships.
