Scottsdale, Ariz.-based AV Homes Inc. plans to build Waterview, a 282-acre, 527-home community south of U.S. Highway 17-92 and South Poinciana Boulevard in Kissimmee, estimated at about $100 million, construction slated to start in early 2014.
The planned Poinciana SunRail station, which is part of the second phase of the commuter rail system, is 1.5 miles from this community — an easy bike ride.
As Central Florida’s $1.3 billion SunRail commuter rail gears up to start running on its first phase in May, proximity to a planned station in Osceola County in the second phase is an added benefit for this site.
“SunRail was a factor as it will provide alternative transportation for many of our residents who commute,” said David Smith, president of the builder’s Florida division. “We all know the traffic challenges of Orlando, and this will be a great selling point.”
