The museum is pleased to announce the completion and opening of the new West Wing Gallery for the Museum of Arts & Sciences, Daytona Beach, Florida. This new wing replaces the original 1969 West Wing damaged by floods.  The ribbon cutting ceremony tookplace on Friday, October 30th. The West Wing addition houses five galleries staging MOAS’ world-class permanent collection.  The Prehistory of Florida Exhibit was also refurbished. In addition, VOA’s design added a sixth gallery that will accommodate the museum’s traveling exhibits.

They were also the architects for the Root Family museum wing, featuring Americana, Coca Cola, and Railroad exhibits. As well as the Planetarium we featured in an earlier post at this link: https://orcadblog.wordpress.com/2013/09/16/new-planetarium-at-moas-daytona/

The state-of-the-art Planetarium is a 94-seat facility housed in a beautifully designed new building. The 40 ft. diameter dome structure and sound system changes the whole experience for viewers as they engage in the wonders of the universe. The Planetarium features a brand new OmniStarTM digital projector which expands the Planetarium’s capabilities significantly. Besides star shows, the Planetarium also has the ability to play full-dome HD movies of all types and genres. The new Planetarium opened in August of 2014.
