The Orlando Sentinel has additional pictures in their photo gallery from a recent press update by Disney Officials. The heart of the expansion will be the springs area shown above. The re-themed venue will be built around reference to historic detail, and will be re-named Disney Springs.
Executive Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering Theron Skees noted in a newly released video that the story behind Disney Springs spawns from a historic timeline. “Attention to detail is huge,” Skees said. “It is what our guests love.”
Skees and his team plan to use attention to detail to build the story of Disney Springs, an early Florida community built around a natural spring that has transitioned into a dining, retail and entertainment venue.
Along with the re-imagined complex, the first of the two new parking garages is set to open by late 2014 and will offer 4,000 parking spaces. A new I-4 interchange will offer guests direct access to Disney Springs across Buena Vista Drive as seen in the rendering below.
