The developer of Central Florida’s first eco-friendly apartment complex in Baldwin Park has more in the works for downtown Orlando.
Washington, D.C.-based Jefferson Apartment Group is the developer behind the planned 300-unit apartment complex in downtown Orlando.
The downtown project is planned to be a nine-story multi-family building on a vacant site on Church Street north of The Jackson and Star Tower condo towers and west of Orlando Lutheran Towers.
Preliminary plans for the project included 299 apartments with 6,650 square feet of ground-level retail, eight live/work units and an integrated three-story parking garage, along with a 14-space surface parking lot and open space, city documents showed.
The project would bring new rental units to downtown, which is one of the hottest apartment sub-markets in Central Florida with a nearly 95 percent occupancy rate. Additionally, the estimated $40.5 million project could create about 400 temporary construction jobs. It also would bring a bigger customer base to downtown businesses, including shops and restaurants.
