This all day event, organized by the Nils M. Schweizer Fellows, begins at the beach with an insider’s view of local architecture, then completes the day at a special residence and party.
They will all meet at Garth Schweizer’s home [the original Schweizer family home in Maitland – 213 Wood Lake Drive – Maitland, Florida 32771] between 8:15-8:30 am, and car pool over to the beach from there. The first destination will be the Atlantic Center of the Arts in New Smyrna Beach [address is: 1414 Arts Center Avenue, NSB, FL 32168}. They will tour the campus and the wonderful shaded courtyards, rustic structures and the classrooms. At the lunch hour, they will head over to Garth & Kevin’s mom’s [Bev] beach house [address is: 1807 Beacon Street, NSB, FL 32169], where they will grab a bite to eat and drink. After lunch they will have a walking tour of homes designed by Kevin Schweizer, exploring the interior and exterior elements, experiencing the spatial, texture and colors used in these contemporary beach homes. After the walking tour, all have been invited next door to enjoy some ‘end of the day refreshments’ and chat about the homes on the tour. Please bring comfortable walking shoes [and even a bathing suite, if you’d like] Weather permitting, it should be a wonderful day checkin’ out some ‘pretty cooooooooooool’ contemporary beach homes-see ya’ all there!!!!
