The Orlando Philharmonic purchased the Plaza Live Theater and have begun additions and renovations to accommodate their needs in their new home. In this first stage, they are renovating the smaller hall into an acoustically sound rehearsal hall and multi-use performance space.
Almost all of the Philharmonic’s concerts are still at the Bob Carr Performing Art Center.
Plans and renderings of the project are by HuntonBrady Architects. New additions constructed on the Plaza Live building, will accommodate the orchestra administrative offices and additional back of house facilities. The Plaza Live will continue to have concerts and events in the main theater during this phase of construction.
Later stage two construction will upgrade the main theater, lobby and exterior façade. The iconic rooftop sign will be kept.
