This spring Lady Lake got a new 120 bed Skilled Nursing Facility, located in that rural central Florida community on 9 acres. It is a single-story facility that is organized into three building components that are disguised by the residential scale of individual façades. The central building incorporates the common areas such as Physical Therapy, Administration, Lobby and other various services. It is flanked on both sides by the resident wings; one for long-term care, the other for short. Both wings are divided into two 30 bed communities having its own country kitchen for short order cooking, dining, lounge, and activity areas. Full nurse’s stations support each community in efficient proximity. The communities are further divided into 15 bed neighborhoods which give the staff more flexibility for resident placement but are primarily intended to impart a more ‘at home’ atmosphere for the residents.
At the SAGE meeting in Orlando in July, Debbie Brazill presented this Villages Rehab and Nursing Center at Lady Lake, FL. Discussion included the latest advancement in culture change in keeping with the SAGE philosophy. Watch for the next meeting.
Here is a video walk-thru on YouTube, filmed by one of the residents:
